Details

The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Ref. 2201.50 is a first-generation Planet Ocean and one of the defining modern Omega dive watches of the mid-2000s. Introduced as part of the Planet Ocean collection launched in 2005, this reference features a highly wearable 42mm stainless steel case paired with a black dial, black aluminum unidirectional diving bezel, and the collection’s signature oversized Arabic numerals at 6, 9, and 12. A date window sits at 3 o’clock, while the helium escape valve at 10 o’clock, screw-down crown, domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal, and substantial 600-meter / 2,000-foot water resistance give it genuine professional diving capability. The stainless steel bracelet is fitted with a folding clasp and diving extension, completing the rugged design that helped establish the Planet Ocean as Omega’s more capable, heavy-duty counterpart to the Seamaster Diver 300M.

Inside is Omega’s Co-Axial Calibre 2500, a 27-jewel automatic chronometer movement operating at 25,200 vibrations per hour and providing approximately 48 hours of power reserve. The Calibre 2500 was historically significant as one of the movements that helped bring George Daniels’ Co-Axial escapement into mainstream production at Omega, making these first-generation Planet Oceans an important part of the brand’s modern mechanical history. This particular example was serviced by Omega in 2026, an especially valuable consideration for a nearly two-decade-old professional dive watch and one worth highlighting for its next owner. With its slimmer 42mm dimensions, aluminum bezel, Calibre 2500, classic black colorway, and recent factory service, the 2201.50 captures the original Planet Ocean formula before the collection transitioned to larger cases, ceramic bezels, and newer-generation movements.
