IWC Mark XV IW325301

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XV Ref. IW325301 is one of the defining neo-vintage pilot’s watches from IWC, combining true aviation-inspired functionality with restrained proportions that have aged exceptionally well. Introduced in 1999 as the successor to the Mark XII, the Mark XV increased the stainless steel case to 38mm while retaining the clean, instrument-like appearance established by earlier members of IWC’s Mark series. Its matte black dial features highly legible white Arabic numerals, luminous hands and markers, the signature orientation triangle at 12 o’clock, and a discreet date window at 3. A domed sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, 60 meters of water resistance, and a soft-iron inner case designed to protect the movement from magnetic fields reinforce its purpose-built aviation heritage. The IW325301 was originally offered on a black leather strap, although IWC’s exceptionally well-made multi-link steel bracelet is also frequently found on examples today.

Inside is IWC Calibre 37524, a heavily modified version of the thin and reliable ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, features 21 jewels, hacking seconds for precise time setting, and provides approximately 42 hours of power reserve. IWC extensively reworked and regulated the movement rather than simply installing a standard ETA caliber, including testing it in multiple positions and temperatures. Produced until the mid-2000s before being succeeded by the larger Mark XVI, the Mark XV occupies an important position in IWC’s Pilot’s Watch lineage: it preserves the understated military-instrument character of the legendary Mark 11 while offering more contemporary dimensions and everyday practicality. Its compact 38mm case, antimagnetic construction, clean black dial, and straightforward automatic movement have made the IW325301 one of the most sought-after neo-vintage references from IWC’s modern era.

Case has a couple marks but nothing notable. Strap has minimal creasing or wear. Dial, hands, and crystal have no wear.
